The Influence of Tibial Rotation on Anterioposterior Knee Stability – a Robot-aided In-vitro Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) rupture is one of the most common sport injuries [1]. While the importance of the cruciate ligaments for stabilization of the knee in anteroposterior (AP) direction is evident, their influence on rotational knee stability is still discussed controversially, especially since the doublebundle technique for ACL replacement claims the advantage of improved rotational stability [2,3]. Patients after ACL rupture often report symptomatic knee instability and giving way, especially during fast cutting and pivoting activities. During these activities, enhanced internal and external rotations occur in addition to anterior and posterior loading of the knee. Therefore, the aim of the current study was to systematically analyze the influence of tibial rotation on AP stability of the knee, comparing different conditions of the cruciate ligaments.

Practicability for robot-aided measurement of knee stability in-vivo
BACKGROUND For the analysis of different treatments concerning anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture, objective methods for the quantification of knee stability are needed. Therefore, a new method for in-vivo stability measurement using a robotic testing system should be developed and evaluated. METHODS A new experimental setting was developed using a KUKA robot and a custom-made chair for...
متن کاملAppropriateness of Tibial Rotation for Isolation of the Medial and Lateral Hamstrings
Background. It is unclear whether the clinical use of tibial rotation to measure the strength of the medial hamstrings and lateral hamstrings in isolation is based on sound scientific evidence or is simply based on anatomical features. Objectives. To verify the appropriateness of tibial rotation for isolation of the medial hamstrings and lateral hamstrings, the participants performed neutral r...
متن کاملMeasurement of Posterior Tibial Slope Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Background: Posterior tibial slope (PTS) is an important factor in the knee joint biomechanics and one of the bone features, which leads to knee joint stability. Posterior tibial slope affects flexion gap, knee joint stability and posterior femoral rollback that are related to wide range of knee motion. During high tibial osteotomy and total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery, proper retaining the...
متن کاملThe Influence of Tibial Tuberosity-trochlear Groove Distance on Development of Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome
Background: Tibial tuberosity-trochlear groove distance (TT-TGD) measurements play a decisive role in evaluatingpatellofemoral joint disorders. However, the prevalence of pathological TT-TGD among patients with patellofemoralpain remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to compare the size of TT-TGD among patients with patellofemoralpain syndrome (PFPS) and those with no history of patell...

Objective: The purpose of this study is to find the optimum training conditions for selective strengthening of the vastus medialis oblique muscle over vastus lateralis. Methods: For this purpose, a musculoskeletal model of lower limb was developed by OpenSim software. Using a detailed tibiofemoral and patellofemoral joint modeling and six muscular branches for components of quadriceps femori...
